Attendance

Reporting Absences:  Regular attendance is important for your child’s education.  If your child is going to be late or absent, please call the Pioneer office at (360) 596-6500.  We have 24-hour voicemail, so you can leave a message anytime of the day or night.  It is especially helpful if you call before the start of the school day.  We worry when a student is absent and we haven't heard from a parent, and we appreciate your assistance in letting us know that your student is safe.

When you leave a voicemail regarding your student’s absence, please be sure to include the following information: your name, your student’s first and last name, the date of the absence, and the reason for the absence.

You may also wish to contact your child’s teacher regarding an absence.  However, this should be in addition to calling the office.

Vacations & Planned Absences: If you are planning a vacation or extended absence, please notify both your child’s teacher and the office as early as possible before the absence. There are Planned Absence forms on the Pioneer website or in the office for you to fill out.

Early Pick-up or Appointments: If you are picking up your child during the school day, please notify the office ahead of time so we can locate your child and have them ready.  A note to the teacher and office is especially helpful.  Notes should not be on sticky notes or tiny scraps of paper, as these are easily lost. Please make sure to include the date.  If at all possible, please schedule appointments outside of the school day. Unless medically urgent, we ask that parents not check out their students after 2:35 p.m.

Tardies: A child is considered late if their arrival time is after 8:30 a.m.  Late students need to stop by the office before they go to class to pick up an arrival notice. Please make every effort to get your student to school on time.  Tardy students miss out on important instruction time, and late arrivals are a distraction to the entire class.
